Turin, 20/01/2026 – Building on previous experiments in integrated mobility, new initiatives aim to make everyday travel simpler, more digital and more sustainable, continuing the path set by earlier MaaS projects in the Turin metropolitan area.
GEMINI is a European research and innovation project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe Programme, with a total budget of over €12 million. Coordinated by the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI), the project brings together 43 partners to advance integrated, digital and user-centered mobility services in Turin and neighbouring territories.
Over its 42-month duration, GEMINI focuses on testing sustainable business models for New Mobility Services (NMS), supporting the adoption of solutions such as MaaS (Mobility as a Service) and MaaC (Mobility as a Community). Within this framework, 5T participates as a partner of the Turin Mobility Living Lab, contributing its expertise in digital platforms, data integration and large-scale experimentation.
A key feature of GEMINI is its cross-border dimension. The project connects daily mobility in Turin with longer-distance travel towards the Valle d’Aosta and Chamonix (France), creating an integrated mobility corridor designed for residents, commuters, tourists and cross-border travelers.
As part of the project, the SmartMove application is being launched, allowing users to plan, book and pay for multimodal journeys through a single digital interface. The app integrates trains, buses, taxis, parking facilities and shared micromobility, supporting both urban and cross-border trips.
A dedicated testing phase is now open. Participants can explore SmartMove’s features and actively contribute to shaping future mobility services. To encourage participation, users receive an initial €10 credit, usable directly within the app.
Join the testing phase by completing the questionnaire and receive instructions to download and sign up for SmartMove:
